Everton’s quiet pursuit of a Premier League forward in late winter emerges as club finally responds to initial approach
Everton’s pursuit of Fulham forward Harry Wilson has ended in rejection. The club made an approach for the Welsh international last week, but Fulham firmly declined to negotiate a move during the winter transfer window.
Wilson’s performance this season has made him a valuable asset for Fulham. The 28-year-old has contributed significantly with eight goals and four assists across 23 Premier League matches in the current campaign. These numbers underscore why Fulham are unwilling to part with him before the Monday evening deadline.
Contract negotiations complicate the situation further. Wilson’s deal expires in summer 2026, which theoretically positions Fulham to negotiate with interested clubs. However, the club remains committed to renewing his contract rather than accepting transfer offers. According to reports, contract discussions with Wilson are currently paused as Fulham attempt to convince him to extend his stay at Craven Cottage.
Wilson arrived at Fulham from Liverpool in 2022, initially joining on loan before securing a permanent transfer. Despite being available for a summer departure as a free agent, Fulham believe retaining him strengthens their squad for the remainder of the season and beyond. The club’s reluctance to sell suggests confidence in Wilson’s future value to their project.
Everton manager David Moyes must now explore alternative options. Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish’s injury has intensified the need for attacking reinforcements. Early summer signing Tyler Dibling has failed to deliver the expected impact. Everton are reportedly pursuing Chelsea’s Tyrique George on loan, with a potential permanent option included. George could fill the left-wing position vacated by Grealish’s absence.
