Chelsea outcast makes surprise return to first team training under new boss Liam Rosenior after lengthy absence from action

Liam Rosenior has welcomed Axel Disasi back into Chelsea’s first-team training after productive discussions with the defender. Disasi spent nearly twelve months isolated from the squad under the previous manager, making Tuesday’s return a significant shift in his situation at the club.

The 27-year-old French centre-back will not feature in Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Pafos due to his extended absence from competitive action. His reintegration focuses on rebuilding match fitness gradually while he trains alongside the first team once more.

Raheem Sterling, earning £325,000 weekly, remains the sole player in Chelsea’s outcast group. Rosenior is actively discussing Sterling’s options and future with the English forward, suggesting clarity may emerge within days as negotiations progress.

Rosenior emphasized giving all players a fresh start upon his appointment. He explained his reasoning for Disasi’s return: “It was the right thing to be back involved with the group. Because of the situation he’s been in, he’s behind in terms of his fitness, his match fitness, and we’ll keep working with him really, really hard to get him up to speed.”

Disasi could still depart Chelsea this month despite his restoration to first-team training, as several clubs maintain interest. His exit remains possible during the current transfer window even as he rejoins regular squad activities.

Rosenior dismissed speculation linking midfielder Enzo Fernandez to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. The manager called transfer rumors meaningless and stressed Fernandez’s importance to Chelsea’s future plans, emphasizing his exceptional performances despite recent illness during weekend’s victory.
