Oliver Glasner faces criticism from former manager over his disrespectful Crystal Palace comments during heated outburst

Alan Pardew, who previously managed Crystal Palace between 2015 and 2016, has criticized Oliver Glasner’s recent public statements about the club. Pardew believes Glasner’s comments showed disrespect toward Crystal Palace and questioned the Austrian manager’s approach to handling frustration with the organization.

Glasner’s outburst followed a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday. He expressed anger about the sale of captain Marc Guehi, which occurred just before the match. The manager claimed he felt abandoned by the club due to thin squad depth caused by recent departures and European competition demands.

Owner Steve Parish decided against dismissing Glasner following their conversation about the incident. However, Pardew remains unconvinced by the manager’s behavior. He specifically objected to Glasner referring to himself in third person, suggesting this approach was inappropriate for an employee of the club rather than its owner.

Pardew acknowledged some legitimate frustrations in Glasner’s position. Losing key players like Eze earlier in the season and Guehi immediately before a crucial match creates genuine challenges. Pardew experienced similar difficulties managing Newcastle, where inadequate squad size damaged league performance.

Despite criticizing Glasner’s communication style, Pardew expressed confidence in his potential. He believes the manager could achieve success competing in European competitions. Pardew predicted Palace would avoid relegation and suggested that winning a trophy in European competition would represent a significant achievement for the club moving forward.
