Club legend Teddy Sheringham advises Tottenham to release Antonio Conte and appoint this man as his replacement
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Teddy Sheringham believes that Tim Sherwood could be the man to replace Antonio Conte and give the club a boost. Spurs have been in chaos following Conte’s post-match interview after the 3-3 draw with Southampton last weekend, in which he took aim at his players and the club’s ownership.
Conte is expected to be sacked in the coming days, leading to questions about the future direction of the club. Speaking to talkSPORT, Sheringham said that he was unsure what Conte meant with his rant and questioned whether he was blaming chairman Daniel Levy for the club’s lack of success.
Sheringham believes that Spurs should let Conte leave and bring in someone else, suggesting that Sherwood would be a good choice. Sherwood managed Spurs during the 2013/14 season and has also had spells in charge of Aston Villa and Swindon Town. Sheringham praised Sherwood’s football knowledge and ability to see who is “cheating” and who wants the ball.
