Man United slap staggering price tag on Alejandro Garnacho as Chelsea eye shock swoop for struggling winger
Chelsea have intensified their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho, having recently contacted Manchester United to discuss the club’s asking price for the 21-year-old winger. United are reportedly seeking £50 million for the Argentinian, which marks a notable reduction from the £70 million initially demanded. This change in valuation comes as Garnacho has found his playing opportunities limited under manager Ruben Amorim.
Sources indicate that Garnacho has been told he no longer fits into United’s future plans. The player himself is reportedly open to a move to Stamford Bridge during the current transfer window. Chelsea’s leadership, after conducting an extensive review, have no reservations about Garnacho’s temperament or suitability for the squad.
During his time at Manchester United, Garnacho has made 144 appearances, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists. His tenure at Old Trafford has seen him lift the FA Cup in the 2023-24 season and the EFL Cup the previous year, adding notable silverware to his career achievements.
Chelsea’s interest in Garnacho comes amid significant activity in the transfer market. The club has already secured the signing of left winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for £48.5 million and brought in Estevao Willian, the highly regarded Brazilian winger from Palmeiras, to strengthen their attack.
In addition to these acquisitions, Chelsea are actively pursuing Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig as they prepare for an overhauled forward line ahead of their Champions League campaign. The club’s aggressive recruitment reflects their ambition to challenge on multiple fronts in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are close to finalizing a major deal for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, with a proposed fee of £74.1 million—demonstrating their own plans for reshaping the squad following Garnacho’s anticipated departure.
