Rangers: A deal is being finalised with Galatasaray for this player
As the January transfer window draws to a close, Rangers’ left-back Ridvan Yilmaz finds himself at the center of transfer speculation. The 22-year-old defender, who was signed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the summer of 2022 for approximately £5m from Besiktas, is reportedly on the radar of Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The interest from Galatasaray comes as no surprise given Yilmaz’s impressive performances since his arrival at Ibrox. With Hellas Verona also showing interest following their decision to sell Scotland’s Josh Doig, it appears that Yilmaz has options should he decide to return to Turkey.
According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, talks are set to take place between Galatasaray and Rangers regarding a potential loan move with an option to buy in the summer. This deal could be facilitated by Galatasaray’s recent sale of Sacha Boey to Bayern Munich, which would provide them with funds necessary for such a transaction.
Rangers’ manager Philippe Clement has hinted at a busy end to the transfer window for the club. Recent reports suggest that Rangers are nearing an agreement with Brazilian side Fluminense for left-back Jefte. Should this deal materialize, it may very well determine Yilmaz’s future with the Scottish club.
