Rangers – Transfer News : This transfer link resurfaces and the striker becomes available on a free deal
The transfer market is heating up, and Rangers are reportedly back in the hunt for Tyrese Campbell. The 24-year-old striker, who recently left Stoke City after his contract expired, is said to be weighing up his options with the Scottish club showing renewed interest.
Rangers had previously set their sights on Campbell in 2020 when then-manager Steven Gerrard considered a pre-contract agreement. Despite also drawing attention from Celtic at that time, Campbell chose to continue his career with Stoke.
However, things have changed as Campbell now seeks a fresh start away from the Potters. According to The Daily Mail, Rangers are not alone in their pursuit; several English Championship teams including Sheffield United, West Brom, QPR, Preston North End, and Cardiff are all vying for the forward’s signature.
During his tenure with Stoke City, Campbell made an impressive mark by scoring 36 goals and providing 21 assists across 164 appearances. His departure comes amidst comments from Philippe Clement indicating that Rangers may need to offload players to fund new signings.
Clement has been candid about the financial strategy of the club saying: “That’s the reality,” acknowledging that player sales might be necessary to bring in new talent this summer. He expressed surprise at this approach but remains committed to building both short-term success and long-term stability for Rangers.
As we move deeper into the transfer window, it will be interesting to see if Rangers can secure Campbell or if they’ll face stiff competition from other clubs eager to capitalize on his availability as a free agent.
