New England Revolution : Revs reportedly find their Petrovic replacement in experienced goalkeeper
The New England Revolution are once again on the hunt for a top-tier goalkeeper, marking their third such search in two years. Following Matt Turner’s transfer to Arsenal in 2022, they had filled his shoes with Serbian international Djordje Petrovic. However, Petrovic is now set to join Chelsea.
Despite this predicament, it seems that New England was ready for Petrovic’s exit. The club has swiftly moved ahead to secure a replacement for the highly-rated 23-year-old who many consider as one of Major League Soccer’s best goalkeepers.
Vaclik steps up to the plate
Tomas Vaclik, the seasoned Czech goalkeeper, is expected to sign with New England soon. At age 34, he looks forward to embarking on an MLS adventure before hanging up his boots.
With over fifty appearances for his national team under his belt, Vaclik brings a wealth of experience from various leagues around Europe. His most recent stint was in England where he played a crucial role in keeping Huddersfield Town within the EFL Championship.
Vaclik gained prominence during his four-year tenure at Swiss powerhouse Basel FC where he clinched four titles in consecutive seasons. This success earned him a move to Sevilla FC in Spain where he won the UEFA Europa League in 2020 and made nearly hundred appearances overall.
