Celtic FC: A new transfer possibility might arise for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers
Leicester City’s Australian international, Harry Souttar, may be on the move. Brendan Rodgers, Leicester’s manager, had previously spent £15 million to secure his services. However, with Celtic in need of a central defender due to Carl Starfelt’s impending departure to Celta Vigo, Souttar could become available.
Celtic boss Rodgers has acknowledged that he will have to find a replacement for Starfelt. This coincides with uncertainty surrounding Souttar’s future at King Power Stadium. Enzo Maresca, the new head coach at Leicester City, hinted that John Souttar’s brother might leave the club soon.
Despite being an unused substitute during their English Championship opening match against Coventry City, Maresca praised Souttar for his work ethic since joining the team. He also noted that transfer possibilities are open for all players while the window remains open.
Rodgers’ Praise for Souttar
After signing him from Stoke and witnessing his performance at the Qatar World Cup, Rodgers expressed admiration for Souttar. The Celtic boss recalled seeing him as a young player overcoming injury challenges and spoke highly of his performances both at Stoke and in the World Cup.
Rodgers further mentioned having spoken to several respected figures in football who hold high regard for Souttar. Having met and interacted with him personally, Rodgers believes that this rising star can demonstrate his quality in Premier League matches.
