Tottenham Hotspur wants to strengthen defense with signings of 3 players

According to sources, new head coach Ange Postecoglou had approved plans to bring in new defenders back in June. Postecoglou confirmed this intention after Tottenham’s friendly defeat against West Ham, stating that central defense was an area they needed to strengthen.

Some of it I had identified early on…The goalkeeper was one and central defence is another,” said Postecoglou. He also expressed his desire to complete these signings before the start of the Premier League season.

While Tottenham is set to sign Ashley Phillips from Blackburn, he will not be the last center-back brought in during this transfer window. The club has been engaged in negotiations with Bundesliga duo Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven.

Tapsoba is believed to be their top target, but Spurs are hoping to lower Leverkusen’s asking price of €50 million. On the other hand, talks for Van de Ven, who would cost €40 million from Wolfsburg, are more advanced.

Sources indicate that Tottenham does not expect this ongoing saga regarding center-back signings to continue much longer. The club has already made several signings this summer including Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Dejan Kulusevski (loan move made permanent), and Pedro Porro (loan move made permanent).
